Hôtel Royal *** in Lourdes

Lourdes and Bernadette Soubirous are at the gateway to the valleys and othergreat places

A hotspot for pilgrimages, Lourdes attracts thousands of pilgrims each year, able-bodied and sick people, coming to dioceses or individually from all countries.

The MassabielleGrotto also surprises the curious of a day, who cannot help themselves from being excited by the enthusiasm of the Sanctuary. Going on holiday to the great Lourdes in the Pyrenees is a must!

You can reach some parts by taking the small train. Whatever the situation, Lourdes makes it possible to plan getaways in the surrounding valleys.

  • House of St Bernadette
  • The Cachot
  • Lourdes Museum
  • Grévin Museum
  • Petit Lourdes Museum
  • The Château Fort and its Pyrenean Museum of Arts and Traditions
  • The Pic du Jer with its cable car and its superb panoramic views towards the Pyrenees summits
  • The Lourdes Lake and its nearby Golf Club, with a swimming pool in the summer and the possibility of canoeing, kayaking or paddling.

Set aside a few hours or a day of discoveries, to go and visit great places and enjoy an environment where wildlife is protected.

Gavarnie classified at Unesco with its circus, the Pont d'Espagne and the Gaube lake passing by the Cauterets, the Cols of Tourmalet, Aspin, take a detour by the lake of Payolle, or even pass by the Aubisque, all well-known thanks to the Tour de France, and the inevitable Pic du Midi accessible by gondola from Mongie.

In rainy weather or very hot weather, it is an ideal time to discover the Médous caves at Bagnères de Bigorre in Bigorre, or those of Betharram on the Pau road, known for their remarkable excavations.

Staying in Lourdes can also make you want to practice some activities:

  • Going down the mountain stream in a raft, to Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, a hotspot for exploring caves.
  • Paragliding from Cabaliros in Vam d'Azun or the Hautacam resort in the Gaves valley for a baptism in biplace,
  • Hikes in the Pyrenees Park, or with children, visit the Donjon des Aigles, the Tropical Aquarium in the Argeles-Gazost Valley or even the Pyrenees Park with bears and marmots ...
  • Discover Spain for a day with "ventas visits" after crossing the Pourtalet pass,
  • The Basque coast with Biarritz, Saint Jean de Luz, Hendaye or Bayonne ...
  • Or go visit the Cité de l'Espace in Toulouse.

In progress.
